About Morgan
Reader, Blogger, Cat Lover

Hi there!

My name is Morgan and welcome to my tiny corner of the internet. While I know blogging isn't the "cool" thing to do anymore now that YouTube and short-form content are so popular, I still think blogging is a great way for people to connect on similar interests.

I have always been an avid reader and was raised by one. My mom always had a book in her hand and would encourage my reading by taking me to the library and letting me pick out a large stack for the week. She had books all over the house and was always having my carpenter godfather build bookshelves in any spare space we had. Don't even get me started on the wonder of the Scholastic Book Fairs and the $10 allowance I was given each semester.

My hobby quickly evolved from the Babysitters' Club into books similar to what I read now. Like every millennial out there, the Harry Potter series was a massive part of my adolescent life. I went to the midnight release parties at my local Borders bookstore and I dressed up for the movie releases while waiting in line for an entire afternoon to get a ticket. Mind you this was before you could pre-order movie tickets online and reserve a seat in the theater, and when midnight releases were actually at midnight. Then young adult books seemed to come out monthly. With Twilight, Divergent, Hunger Games, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and The Maze Runner, we suddenly had so many options to read in middle school and high school, I couldn't keep up.

Then I went to college and reading was no longer a priority. Not only were books expensive, but I didn't have time. I read a couple of romance books here and there on my brand-new Kindle, but nothing that stuck out. Then I went to law school and free time was no longer a concept. I would read a hundred pages of case law a night and the last thing I wanted to was read more, even if it was for fun.

After graduating from law school I moved to New York, where I had a 45 minute commute in each direction. So I dusted off my first edition Kindle, and I started reading again. I re-found my passion for reading on that commute and I started myself craving it because I knew how much reading I could get done. I quickly discovered the Throne of Glass series and became absolutely obsessed. I had nobody to talk to about it since this was before social media discovered reading. My poor husband had to sit there and listen to me babble about a world and characters that he had no idea about. Then the pandemic hit and, wonderfully, social media started reading. I was able to follow people who liked the same books that I did and find more recommendations through them. That's when my obsession with high fantasy really kicked off.

I noticed how much fun people were having sharing their opinions and reviewing books, and I found myself wanting to join in. Maybe I am not brave enough to start a YouTube channel or post anything on my TikTok other than quick snippets of my life and books, but blogging is an escape for me. I'm 31 years old, have a husband, a dog, and a cat, and I can't wait to share more about the books I love.
